Download the Barnes and Noble app and you can have books, DVDs and music at your fingertips. You can read reviews, get prices and decide what your next purchase will be.

The B & N app is fun to use, even if you're not shopping. Let's say you're out of town and you think you might want to browse in Barnes & Noble, but you have no idea where one might be. Hit the "stores" button and you can search for a nearby store (you can put in a zip code or city or let it use your current location) and it will find the store.

Once the app finds you a store, it will also tell you if that store has Wi-Fi, a café, and even give you a schedule for activities (like children's reading sessions). It will also give you a map so you can get yourself there.

Beyond that, the app also lets you search for a product by taking a picture. Use your iPhone camera to take a picture of a book or DVD, and let BN search for you. If it finds the product (and most are found, but if not try taking the picture again), it will tell you which nearby store has it and you can reserve it online. Not sure if you want to make a purchase? You can read reviews. You can even purchase online if that's your thing.

In fact, the BN app makes it easy to purchase online. If you have a BN.com account, you can quickly log on, purchase your item and go on with your day.

If you're stuck in line and you want to read something, but you're not sure what, you can entertain yourself reading about the new releases and reading reviews of books, DVDs and music. Dead time is no longer dead.
