The Event Of 2011 - the UK’s Royal Wedding

The 7 year courting period of Prince William of Wales with Kate Middleton of England ended with their wedding engagement on October 2010. The couple decided to join hands after only 7 years from the start of the relationship that started in the University of St Andrews, where they both pursued their college education.

William and Kate were good friends in their college days. Kate was William’s guest for all of William’s parties and celebrations in the royal family. Bookmarkers had both William and Kate becoming a couple as odds on favorite very quickly after the relationship became public knowledge. Kate and William weathered the massive amount of media speculation both positive and negative and continued with their relationship. In April 2007 media reports, it was said that the friends had split. But, Kate was seen with William on their holidays. In October 2010, William proposed to Kate in their trip to Kenya. William took her to his favorite site Lewa game reserve, Kenya, to express his wish to marry her. Kate accepted William’s proposal and their engagement took place in November 2010. The wedding date was announced as April 29, 2011 by Clarence House on their engagement day.


April 29th, 2011, is expected to be one of the grandest events of the century in the United Kingdom. It is expected that this wedding will overtake the 1981 royal wedding spectacle between Diana Spencer and William’s father Prince Charles. The wedding is to take place at Westminster Abbey, the official wedding chapel of the Royals.

Kate and William are said to be very excited about their upcoming marriage, but, it seems that the whole world is also eager to know more with just weeks left for the wedding. Prince William presented Kate with his mother Diana’s engagement ring on the day of the engagement, his sentiments being, that his mother Diana would be with him.

Kate is going to be a Duchess after her wedding with Prince William. The Queen will host a grand reception for the newly-wed in Buckingham Palace. It is going to be a different experience for Kate as she enters the Royal family as a Princes bride rather than an acquaintance, the worlds eyes will be upon her. 2000 guests will be at Westminster Abbey on 29th April, 2011 for the royal wedding.
