“The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” has become the surprise hit for the summer. The movie features two huge stars John Travolta and Denzel Washington. That’s enough information for some to get all chirpy.
The movie is good for an action thriller. Robert Shaw sounded tough without all the fanfare. But what about Travolt’s screeming and overacting?

The movie also stars John Turturro, Luis Guzman, Michael Rispoli and James Gandolfini. Tony Scott directs the remake of the 1974 film now adapted by Brian Helgeland ("Man on Fire," "Cirque du Freak," "Nottingham")Denzel Washington and director Tony Scott have reteamed for the fifth time in their careers.
In “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” Denzel Washington stars as Walter Garber, a New York City Subway dispatcher. He leads an ordinary life until Ryder comes in. Ryder: The criminal is played by John Travolta. He has a highly armed gang of just four people all set to hijack a train and execute its passengers. All this mess happens in pursuit of a huge ransom.

Lucky for the passengers: Garbers vast knowledge of the subway system proves handy. He lands up saving the hostages.

In all this, Garber wonders how the criminals could possibly escape, even after getting the money. (?)

The movie is good for an action thriller. And Scott’s film-making style is different. Even if the trailer doesn’t look very original, it can definitely be entertaining.
