Taj Mahotsava is an applauded effort of Indian Government to promote the rich and traditional arts of the country. This wonderful event was started in the year 1992. Since then, attaining the gradual path of success, now the event has become a milestone. Last year in 2010, the celebration of Taj Mahotsava was a big hit, that hoisted numerous flags of success. The festival is the real tribute to all the artisans and it provides them the best platform to prove their skills. At the same time the fest also boosts up the art forms, that are struggling to sustain. There, you may also purchase those magnificent art and craft pieces at the most nominal and authentic price.

Highlights of Taj Mahotsava:

Traditional Heritage of India - Arts and Crafts:
Every year artisans from several part of the country, get to this amazing Taj bonanza. More than 400 illustrious artisans of different states get the golden opportunity to showcase their outstanding works of art and craft. Some of the most popular among them are Chikan work from Lucknow, Silk and Zari work of Varanasi, Potteries of Khurja, wood and stone carvings from Tamil Nadu, Pashmina from Kashmir, Bamboo and cane work from North East India, Paper mash work of South India, Marble and Zardozi of Agra, Hand-print work of Farrukhabad, Carpets of Gujrat and Kashmir etc.


Entertainment at Taj Mahotsava:
Except exhibiting the awesome arts and crafts, the Mahotsava also offers you the mesmerizing performances by various artists of different regions. During the Mahotsava, you can enjoy the exquisite presentations of folk and classical dance & music, such as the performance of Brij Bhoomi will let you experience the same era of century ago. Date: Taj Mahotsava is celebrated from 18th to 27th February every year.
Venue: Shilpgram, it is a craft village, located around 600 m from the eastern gate of Taj Mahal.

Entry Fair: For adults: Rs 20
For children (5 to 12 years): Rs 10
For children below 5 years and foreigners: Free
