So The worst Recession in living memory is with us - So What! The truth is it is not the worst one in living memory, I remember The Big Slump of the 1930s when most of the working classes were not working even though we had everything to create work. I was brought up during that Slump and it was hellish. There was no work, no health service, one paid for the doctor on a weekly basis and there was no Social Security payments. Okay the local Board of Guardians (a sort of philanthropic group created by the local council) would visit one's home to try to help, and if they saw that the children were in danger of starving to death, they would give our mother 10 Shillings, (fifty Pence) to buy a loaf of bread and margarine. However, they would first check the contents of the house and if they thought that there was a `salable article` in the house they would tell mother to sell that and feed the kids for another week on the proceeds. Our family had nothing! We really had Nothing, but every Christmas mother would have a Sugar Sack given to her and she would have a bundle of old clothes given to her after the local Jumble sale was over and mother and us three kids would sit on the floor around the little fire for a few weeks making a `Peg Rug` so that we would have something that looked `Nice` in front of the fire at Christmas time, even though we had no gifts or food; Dad used to tell us that father Christmas had been killed so there couldn't be any presents. Sure enough, as soon as the New Year came the Board of Guardians would call at our house, they would admire our handiwork and then tell us to sell the rug and live for another week on the proceeds. That was a Recession!

Do you think that it can never get that bad again? Well I'm here to tell you that it can AND IT MIGHT! What's happened before can happen again.

Okay, so you are happily sailing along, you've got a decent job and a decent standard of living in your lovely mortgaged home and then come next Friday, you are told that your services are no longer required. What a Bombshell! You go home in tears and in shock. What can you do about your situation? There are no other jobs to be found, everyone is in the same boat and it's sinking fast. How will you be able to continue living in your lovely mortgaged home without a regular salary. Oh you may manage for a couple of months or so with the savings that you have, but as you spend it, how do you replace it and finally the crunch comes and the house is repossessed or sold by you to pay off what's owed on the mortgage. Where do you and your family go. I hope that you don't end up like we did in a Rat Infested House that had millions of Cockroaches. Can this really happen again? Oh My God, but it can.

What can one do in those circumstances. The answer is Not A Lot, but there is much that one can do before the blow is struck and that is today. You can do something today. You can be prepared to do a couple of hours a day doing something that might just protect your family. There are many things that one can do whilst there is still time, maybe one can turn a hobby into a money-making venture. What hobbies does one have. If you have a digital camera and an internet connection you could be in business today and creating a residual income that could pay you dividends for years to come. As long as you have an income that it not reliant upon your full time employment, you have a chance of your family avoiding the worst effects of the recession. You can spend some of your free time taking photgraphs in and around your home town. These photgraphs can then be uploaded into one of the many photo libraries and as copies of your photos are sold by them, you receive a fair percentage of the price paid. Not only will you get paid if your photo is sold, but it can be sold and sold again for years to come - and every time a copy of it is sold, you get paid! Wow! What an opportunity. It doesn't matter what the pictures are of most are saleable, so the more photos you upload to the photo libraries, the more chances you have of making money.

What about going on your holidays and letting your holiday photos of places and people of interest pay for all your expenses. There are so many opportunities if you have a digital camera and an internet connection for you to make money with this and remember, there are many photo libraries and they are all eager for photos so by uploading your photos in many libraries you increase your chances of making more and more money and in this way helping yourself to avoid the worst of this terrible Recession.
