As one of important representatives the new artistic trend of China after 89s, Artist Fang Li-jun has created an unique mode of saying together with other artists in this trend, that is Cynical Realism, among them, the "Bald Popi" image created by Fang Li-jun in his series of oil painting works created since 1988, has become a type of classic language symbols, which marked a type of survived feeling of humdrum mood and Popi humor which were prevailing at the late 80's and half of early 90's in China, more broadly, it marked thehumanistic and psychological feelings of contemporary people broadly.

Perhaps, both the East and West, contemporary intellectuals all have become a bit more Popi, because, as we faced to in the world today, we felt helpless and dismayed more and more, and we are no longer done as people in Franz Kafka and Jiekemeidi time, who can through revealing the absurd existence to give vent to their inner depression when feel the oppression come from the environment, and marked their own independent will. Today we almost can not distinguish the limits between us with the environment, the independence we considered, maybe just a result of a certain type of environment, we laugh at the world, perhaps just laugh at ourselves, then we have no other choice but to become a Popi..
