Nokia, one of the leading brands in the mobile phone industry, are hoping to shake up the smartphone market with the forthcoming release of their stylish new handset, the X6.

Weighing in at 122g and measuring 111mm x 51 x 13.8, the device itself is of a pretty standard size for a smartphone. The touch screen display is a 3.2" capacitive screen, with a resolution of 640 x 360. The screen also supports 16:9 widescreen viewing, meaning movies look great on this handset. Throw into the equation the capability of displaying 16 million colours and a scratch resistant screen, and on the surface the X6 appears to be a quality device.

Nokia have really pitched the X6 at the music lovers market. As you would expect most file formats are supported, including MP3, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA. Unlike the majority of phones currently available, the X6 also comes equipped with an FM radio as well as the standard 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. The on board storage is huge at 32gb, backing up the fact that this really is being pitched a the multi media market. Navigation of audio files is surprisingly easy, and Nokia have even developed a neat little app which allows your choice of music to reflect the mood your currently in.

The X6 has addressed the age old problem of inferior camera facilities on mobile phones. The 5MP camera on board is complete with a high end Carl Zeiss lens and also features autofocus and a dual LED flash facility for low light conditions. Video is recorded at 30 frames per second.

The handset uses the latest version S60 V5 operating system, which has been designed with touch screen devices in mind. The on board web browser is based on Web Kit, which is the same technology used in the iPhone. The result of this is a very smooth browsing experience complete with flash video. Or in more simple terms, if a website can be viewed on a desktop, it can be viewed on the X6. The boom in social networking sites has also been addressed, with Nokia including apps that pull all of your friends statuses and tweets and displays them directly on your homepage. You can also update your own status instantly from your home screen.

The lithium ion battery supplied with the Nokia X6 is of a very high capacity, offering up to 420 hours in standby and 8 hours talktime. But perhaps as this phone is aimed at music lovers, it may be better to focus on the fact that you can achieve 35 hours music playback from a single charge.

Nokia really seem to have come up trumps with this handset, striking the perfect balance between smartphone and music phone. Customers will be attracted to the good quality camera and huge storage capabilities, as well as the very striking looks. The X6 is Nokias best smartphone yet, and will certainly appeal to the music lover in everybody.
