You may be looking for environmentally-friendly cleaning for your business, but what does it actually mean and how can it benefit you?
Environmentally-friendly or green cleaning can mean a number of things, but ultimately it describes cleaning methods using environmentally-friendly chemicals in an effort to improve human health and the environment.

Environmentally-friendly cleaning products can be one of two things; usually these are products that avoid the use of chemically-reactive and toxic chemicals, some of which emit volatile organic compounds causing respiratory and dermatological problems among others. Additionally it can refer to the way the cleaning products are manufactured, packaged and distributed. If these processes are environmentally-friendly and the products are biodegradable, then the term "green" or "eco-friendly" can apply and is used. However, some industry people disagree to the way this term is applied to the products and the term is not clearly defined.

One of the new cleaning methods currently available is "beyond biodegrable" which is considered to be the most sustainable cleaning technique available currently. Without going into the science too much, this is a process where hydrocarbons are fermented by natural processes. This results in 'instantly deep cleaning', where even the waste water is clean and the dirt has been transferred into harmless water, gasses and minerals.

So how can green or environmentally-friendly cleaning can benefit your business? Well it does depend on your business to begin with.
If your business is certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) then using green cleaning methods or using a green cleaning company would be crucial.

Using environmentally friendly cleaning products avoids exposure to your staff to toxins that can be found in non-environmentally friendly products. These toxins can be found in the air or on work surfaces. Eliminating these toxins from your working environment can lead to healthier staff and increased productivity.

You may be servicing customers and indeed your own employees that expect green cleaning products and methods to be used.

Using green and ethical methods for storage, use and disposal of chemicals can reduce the risk of fires, spills and explosions. Green products are usually less dangerous, therefore if there is any accident there will be less risk to employees.
Adding all of these key benefits together start to show real cost savings. Also, green products and methods are also starting to become cheaper than non-environmentally friendly options.
All of these benefits are great, but let’s not forget that lowering the environmental impact of companies will be essential to the future. Showing your business can improve you brand reputation and your own self-satisfaction to your part of improving the environment.
