Traditionally the TV guide was a paper copy, but now you can get the online version that has more recent news in it. You no longer have to wait until the guide comes into the shops before you can find out what's happening.

Once upon a time you had to rely on the page or two that was included in your daily newspaper for the TV guide. Then it became more important and was a magazine that everyone bought to find out not only what was on and when, but additional gossip about the favourite TV stars and shows. You could get a hint of what was going to happen next and then phone your friends to discuss it.
Nowadays, you simply go online for the best TV guide. Of course, traditionalists still like their paper copy; at least they can read it at the table while sipping their coffee. But the online TV guide has everything that the paper one has and is more up-to-date, too. And better still, you don't have to go and buy it from the newsagents or supermarket. So if you were in a hurry to get home from work, or if it was raining too heavily to bother stopping at the store, you can still access your precious TV guide by going online.

But did you ever think that the online TV guide is not quite as convenient to access as your old paper copy? If you are sitting comfortably on the sofa in front of the TV and you want to look up something in the TV guide, you will have to get up and go switch the computer on and look. You may rather just reach for that paper copy and keep it on your lap to read while the ads are on.
