Television channels in Australia are different from those in America. And before we get the same choices and options that they do, modern technology may override it all and make watching televisions old-fashioned.

Television channels in Australia are a little different from those in America. In Australia most people simply tune in to the television channels for our local district, or a few others that we can get and like. We get a mix of news, sports, documentaries and movies on the same channel. And if we cannot find anything we like or are tired of watching the commercials, we simply play a DVD or switch off altogether.
In America there are hundreds of different television channels with each one being dedicated to a specific topic. For instance you can access a television channel that shows only sports or only one sport specifically. You can get television channels that play only movies or others that only show documentaries. This means that you have to order a specific mix when you are getting your television established. But if you don't like what you ordered, it can easily be changed. This is much better than the way in which the television channels in Australia work.

Of course, watching television channels in Australia is free, which makes a difference. But many TV addicts would be quite happy to pay for the privilege of watching only what they chose to watch. And this option is now becoming more popular, though there is still not the variety of choice here as in the US. Perhaps one day we might catch up, meanwhile the computer and modern technology may be making television channels pass. It may be that one day everyone will watch the television of their choice from their PCs and for free.
