What is the purpose of Parabens in beauty products and cosmetics?
Parabens are used as inhibitors of microbial growth and to extend shelf life of beauty products. Basically it is a preservative that is used to protect the products from going rancid. It is widely used even though they are known to be toxic and have caused many allergic reactions and skin rashes. Parabens are highly toxic and have been linked to cancer as a potential carcinogen.
