One of the best ways to unwind after a day's hard work is to watch a nice romantic movies. Over the years many romantic movies have been made some remained ageless till today as people watch such movies with equal vigor and zest as earlier. Some of the films have been trend setters while other movies deeply portrayed the love, betrayal and sufferings of people taken from real life instances. One such movie was “ Gone With The Wind” directed by Clark Gable in the year 1939. Some believe it was a movie which was no less than an epic for cine goers all over the world. While the first half of the movie focusses on the catastrophe of Civil War which also leads to creation of nostalgic appeal, however the real love story is woven in the second half . The movie is regarded as a trend setter in terms of art direction, color, sound, cinematography and acting by Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland and Leslie Howard are mesmerizing. If we are talking of all time favorite classic romantic movies how can we forget the the timeless movie “ My Fair Lady” where Audrey Hepburn left an indelible mark with her amazing acting skills well remembered for her unforgettable role till today. The movie was loosely based on the novel by George Bernard Shaw's play “Pygmalion”. The movie also saw the presence of legendary Hollywood actors like Rex Harrison who glorified the role of Henry Higgins opposite Julie Andrews. The movie was actually a social experiment and pays tribute to the representation of Cukor's movie style.

More recently, in 1990's Richard Gere's “ Pretty Woman” deserves a special mention. In this movie the public witnessed a power packed performance by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. The movie is specially notable since it made Julia Roberts a household name in US because of her charming personality. While Gere was known as the silver-haired Wall Street knight who sweeps any street girl and Roberts who was known to live in her world of fantasy and when they met on Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel threads of love, companionship and passionate scenes of love were the highlights of the movie. Special laurel needs to be given to the supporting cast which includes- Laura San Giacomo as Roberts's hooker pal, Hector Elizondo as the hotel manager, Jason Alexander, Ralph Bellamy, and Hank Azaria.

Among the all time Bollywood Hindi romantic movies special mention needs to be made of the classic “Mughal-E-Azam” also one of the costliest movie made so far by an Indian. Guru Dutt's “Kagaz Ke Phool” featuring Guru Dutt himself and Waheeda Rahman. Other's include—'Devdas','Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Bobby' and 'Kabhi Kabhi”.
