The recently announced Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro offers a similar spec list to that of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini. With similar dimensions and weight, this version of the handset sees the addition of a slide out full Qwerty keyboard.
The handset has a glossy black colour scheme which is tastefully complemented by silver buttons at the base of the screen, with silver colouring of the slide out keyboard. The handset measures 90x52x17mm and weighs in at just 129 grams. It is relatively slim line considering the fact that it has a slide out keyboard. The 2.55 inch TFT capacitive touch screen offers good quality display of menus and media content. This is due to the ability to display up to 16 million colours within 240x320 pixels.
An impressive media player supports various music and video file formats such as MP3 and MP4. Additional entertainment options include a selection of games and stereo FM radio playback. Applications offer direct access to Google sites for a convenient method of searching the web, along with YouTube and Gmail. Additional features include T9 predictive text input and a document viewer.
MP3 files can be assigned as ringtones offering users options to customise their handset to an extent. Obviously vibration work alongside this function to alert users to incoming calls and messages. Two hands free options are included to suit the preferences of users. First of all, a useful speaker phone system is installed. Secondly, a 3.5mm audio jack accommodates hands free headsets as well as earphones for listening to music tracks from the media player.
The Xperia X10 Mini Pro utilises a variety of connectivity features so the handset is connected when on the move. Class 10 EDGE and GPRS provides the initial method of connecting to cellular networks. In areas covered by 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA provide a means of connection. In order to attain a faster internet connection, Wi-Fi connection takes advantage of local wireless internet routers. Bluetooth and micro USB finish off the list of connectivity features.
An impressive 5MP camera is installed which operates at a pixel resolution of 2560x1920 for high quality still images. Autofocus and LED flash simplify the task of producing quality images even in low lighting conditions. VGA quality video can be shot at a rate of 30 frames per second as an alternative method of image capture.
128MB of internal storage provides space for storing media files and contact info. A micro SD slot comes equipped with a pre installed 2GB memory card for the same purpose. If more storage space is required, this memory card can be upgraded up to 16 GB.
Android v1.6 is the operating system of choice, and coupled with a powerful 600MHz processor, handles demanding applications easily.
With its compact size the Xperia X10 Mini Pro is sure to appeal to a wide range of users, especially given the addition of a Qwerty keyboard.
