The Blackberry Storm2 is a handset which is aimed at those who require the ability to communicate effectively whilst out and about. Its comprehensive functionality provides the means to connect through its own connections and WiFi, to the internet. Released in November 2009 this handset provides excellent touch screen technology as well as utilising the popular Blackberry operating system.


The handset comes with a 3.25 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, which operates at a pixel screen size of 480 x 360 pixels and is able to display up to 65,000 colours and its variants. The screen displays imagery in a colourful and effective manner with vibrancy and clarity. An accelerometer sensor is also provided which automatically rotates the image displayed dependent upon the orientation of the handset.


The handset measures 112 mm x 62 mm wide and is 14 mm thick, whilst waiting 160 g in weight. Ring and vibration alert types are provided with this handset, with the additional benefit of MP3 ringtones being able to be utilised as a means to individualise the handset. A 3.5 mm audio Jack and speakerphone are integrated within the handset and provide hands-free communication.


The Blackberry Storm2 comes with an internal memory of 2 GB, which is sufficiently large enough to hold a large quantity of media and work files. Expansion up to 16 GB of memory is provided by utilising the microSD slot which is built into the unit. An MP3/MP4 player is included within the package as well as an organiser and a voice memo feature.


As mentioned previously, this handset is all about communication and connectivity. The handset provides connectivity by means of GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, Wi Fi, blue tooth and micro-USB. This multitude of connectivity options provides a variety of means of connecting to multiple devices and systems including internet access at 7.2 Mbps and the ability to connect to nationally available hotspots by virtue of its Wi Fi connection. Satellite navigation is provided by the GPS function that also comes with A-GPS support as well as Blackberry maps.


A 3.15 mega pixel camera is provided with this handset which operates at 2048 x 1536 pixels. Included within the package are auto focus and an LED flash for illumination, as well as image stabilisation and geo-tagging. The camera also doubles up as a video capture device, which provides a viable alternative to photos.
