The Blackberry Storm2 offers something a little different from the Blackberry stable. It is one of the first handsets that Blackberry have produced that doesn't contain a full QWERTY keyboard on its front face, in fact this handset utilises touch screen technology. Released in November 2009 the phone measures 112 mm x 62 mm wide and is 14 mm thick, whilst weighing 160 g in weight and utilises the Blackberry operating system. Since its introduction it has received rave reviews and plaudits from many.

A 3.25 inch TFT capacitive touch screen is the focal point of this phone, its ability to display up to 65,000 colours at a pixel screen size of 360 x 480 pixels means it is able to display imagery with effective colour representation and a vibrancy that is unmatched. An accelerometer sensor is provided which automatically rotates imagery dependent upon the aspect of the image and the orientation of the mobile phone.

A 3.15 mega pixel camera is provided and operates at 2048 x 1536 pixels and comes with auto focus and image stabilisation as standard. In addition geo-tagging, the means to reference images by location and an LED flash are also included. For those who prefer the medium of video rather than photo, the camera also doubles up as a video capture device and provides that alternative.

Connectivity is provided by a multitude of options which include GPRS, EDGE, blue tooth as well as micro-USB. In addition the Wi Fi and HSDPA connections provide internet access at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps as well as the ability to connect to nationally available hotspots. As with many handsets currently available, the Blackberry Storm2 also provides GPS functionality that comes with A-GPS support and Blackberry maps.

Additional extras include a document editor, MP3/MP4 player, organiser and a voice memo facility. A variety of games are included within the package with the ability to download further games if desired. The handset comes with 2 GB internal memory which can be increased up to 16 GB by utilising the microSD card slot

The Blackberry Storm2 is a comprehensive and useful handset, much like the Blackberry 8520 curve , both offer extensive communication and connectivity options whilst retaining an aesthetically pleasing style and a raft of user friendly functionality.
