The "Take Wings Foundation" is an organization dedicated to helping exposed teens develop their self-esteem and life skills through proper education. On August 31, 2011, it will be hosting its eight annual black-tie benefit event at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

Terri Vaughn’s Take Wings Event is spearheaded by Terri J. Vaughn, an influential member of the African-American community more popularly known as a Hollywood celebrity whose notable television appearances include the "Steve Harvey Show: and "All of Us". More than being a popular celebrity however, Vaughn is also a philanthropist responsible for establishing the non-profit "Take Wings Organization".

Terri J. Vaughn is known throughout Hollywood as an incredibly beautiful and talented African-American actress best known for being part of such hit television shows like the "Steve Harvey Show" and "All of Us". More than being a talented celebrity however, Vaughn is also a philanthropist who spearheaded the formation of the said non-profit foundation.

The main goal of the eighth annual Angel Awards Benefit Gala is to raise money for at-risk teens between the ages of 13 to 18 who reside along the Bay Area. Basically, the "Take Wings Foundation" was established so that it can help adolescents properly deal with their self-esteem issues by providing positive experiences and role modelling. This foundation was established by Vaughn in 1997.

Despite being a formal gala, sponsors can expect the event to have a very informal and festive atmosphere. Actress Nicole Ari Parker, also known as Nikki Kodjoe from "Soul Food" and her husband, Boris Kodjoe will be accompanying Vaughn host, perform, and speak at the organization. Aside from Vaugn, Parker, and Kodjoe, award winning R&B Vocalist will also be providing the entertainment for the night.

The Honorary Chairpersons for the night include the following: Denise Washington LeNoir, a family nurse practitioner, Nada Barrie, Golden State Warriors’ Senior Executive Vice President, Alvin "Al" Attles, former Golden State Warriors head coach, and Michael A. LeNoir, a practicing Bay Area pediatrician and CEO of Ethnic Health America Network.

Warren J. Strudwick, a board certified orthopedic surgeon and president of the Sinkler Miller Medical Association; and Edward Fitzpatrick, a philanthropic contributor to the arts, education, and community enhancement are this year’s Angel Award Honorees.

Terri Vaughn’s Take Wings Event sponsors include a variety of trusted names including Wells Fargo, Safety Foundation, Ross Stores, Golden State Warriors, House of Hennessy, Kaiser Permanente and one of the Bay Area’s leading radio stations, KBLX 102.9-FM.
