Emerging from their infamous reputation of past, tattoos are part of mainstream culture; an estimated 10 million Americans have at least one tattoo. Each person has his or her own particular reason for getting a tattoo; it may be a common reason or it may be unique, but it is nonetheless individual.

Getting a Tattoo is not something that you should do on a whim or to honor a romance as it can lead to tattoo regret in a hurry. People that take tattooing lightly are the very same people that are contributing to the growing popularity of laser tattoo removal.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal For You?

Tattooing is big business, however, in the last decade tattoo removal has become an even bigger business. In fact; it’s estimated that more than 50% of people who have a tattoo want it removed later down the road. There are many reasons for wanting a tattoo removed, maybe it represents something you no longer stand for, it's faded and doesn't look as good or you simply don't like it anymore. One of the biggest misconceptions with tattoos is that the tattoo can come off just as easily as it goes on and that is not always the case.

The tattoo removal can be complicated and it’s not always successful. The success of the procedure has to do with a number of variables, including the size of the tattoo and the colors that were used.

Laser Tattoo Removal is Not without Risks

While laser tattoo removal is the most common method of tattoo removal, the downside is that it is extremely painful; some have compared the sensation to having hot grease splattered on your skin. Tattoo laser removal is also very expensive often costing 10 times more to remove a tattoo than it costs to ink that tattoo. In addition to pain and cost considerations there are possible side effects to consider including:

• Scarring
• Faint or shadow remnants of the tattoo
• Darkening of the skin in the treated area
• Lightening of the skin in the treated area

At the end of the day, the pain, cost, risks and lack of guarantee should all be considered before deciding to undergo tattoo laser removal. Fortunately for those that are not willing to risk it, there are some temporary tattoo cover-up products such as Demablend’s tattoo cover-up makeup and Ink Armor arm and leg sleeves that can do the trick pain free and much less expensively.
