Greetings fellow Sound Stage readers! Now that we are well into 2011, Sight & Sound Productions has been preparing for some incredibly exciting events happening this spring. Mark your calendars!

Next month proves to be a literal March madness with back to back events. Starting strong on March 1st is the final speaker in the Florida Forum 2010-2011. This event features President George W. Bush as honorary guest speaker and is held at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. The Florida Forum is an annual speaker series put on by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Wolfson Children’s Hospital strives to uphold their mission advocating on behalf of children while promoting optimal health for the region’s children through extensive education and research.

Rev your engines for the weekend of March 11-13, 2011 because Amelia Island is hosting its 2011 Concours D’Elegance! French for “competition of elegance,” the first known use of the term dates back to 17th Century France, where aristocrats would parade their horse drawn carriages for show. This is no ordinary car show! A car owner cannot simply sign up; owners and their cars are personally invited to attend to preserve the high standards of the show. The local Amelia Concours D’Elegance is held at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island at Summer Beach and features Duesenberg, Allard and Kurtis automobiles.

Next put on your garden best, because from March 14-19th, it’s Garden Week at The Cummer Museum and Gardens! Part of the Cummer’s 50th anniversary celebration, an entire week is devoted to all things flora. View floral interpretations of the Cummer’s art collection, and listen to speakers like Nancy Clarke, a former white house chief floral designer. There is also a “Fashion in Bloom” show as well as a garden concert. In addition, enjoy free admission for Museum Family Day on Saturday the 19th.

To close out the month of March, Sight & Sound is getting a little muddy by helping to present the 2011 Jacksonville Mud Run. On Saturday, March 26th, this adventure race is an opportunity for people of all skill levels to participate. Mud Run is a 10k race with boot camp style obstacles either in or surrounded by mud. Benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society, this wildly popular event presents a unique challenge to those who participate and quite the spectacle for those who like to watch from the sidelines.

April brings forth one of the most expressive cultural festivals, 2011’s Springing the Blues! This blues festival takes place over the first weekend in April and is at Jacksonville Beach’s Seawalk Plaza right next to the Atlantic. As the south’s largest free blues festival, this three-day oceanfront concert celebrates America’s indigenous musical form as well as promote support of the arts.

All of these spring festivities making you feel wild? Sight & Sound is proud to be a part of ExZOOberation! Get in touch with your inner animal at the Jacksonville Zoo’s 16th annual ExZOOberation event, the classy adult night out that includes cocktails, dinner, dancing, and a live auction. Those who are attending will also be able to walk back in time to view the Zoo’s new dinosaur exhibit. With proceeds from the event going toward bettering Jacksonville’s beloved zoo, ExZOOberation promises to be a night of dino-mite!

This May, venture outdoors to witness the intensity and drama of The Players Championship! This world-renowned PGA TOUR stop started in 1974 with Jack Nicklaus’ monumental victory over J.C. Snead and has since become one of the PGA TOUR’s most sought after titles. TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach has since become the home base for this incredible display of golfing talent and finesse. Boasting the largest purse of all the PGA TOUR matches, this is not your typical Sunday golf game. Sight & Sound has the pleasure of working with the tournament and will even be giving out free tickets to the match through our Facebook!
