According to a report today from The Shanghai Daily Report, Apple is now making a huge move into the Chinese wireless market partnering with China Mobile, by far the largest wireless provider in China. Apple who already purchases many of its components from electronic suppliers in China to manufacture their cutting edge devices like the iPhone, iPod and iPad stands to substantially increase revenue by reaching out to the over 910 million mobile subscribers in China; nearly 74 million of which are users on 3G networks. The Chinese wireless market is over three times larger than the United States market and is also expanding much more quickly.

According to information posted on the microblog of China Mobile’s marketing spokesman, Liu Yang of Beijing, the partnership between Apple and China Mobile will be announced in September and sales of the iPhone through China Mobile will begin in the fall. Yang also stated that a "new iPhone with China Mobile’s network will debut", seems to this writer that both the timing of the partnership and the "new iPhone" mentioned could be alluding to the iPhone 5 which is rumored to be launching as early as August in the U.S. Apple’s previous deal with China Unicom pales in comparison to the wireless giant, China Mobile.

The deal with China Mobile could give Apple a much needed shot in the arm in its competition with Android for market share. Google’s Android devices have closed the gap and according to some OS data research firms the Android has even surpassed Apple devices. According to Apple’s last quarterly report, the company sold nearly 19 million iPhones which represents an increase almost double that of the same quarter of last year.
