Sherlock Holmes Movie news

As many of you are probably already very aware, a new Sherlock Holmes movie is coming out Christmas day this year. One thing I think we can all rejoice about is Robert Downey Jr. taking the lead role as Sherlock Holmes in the Sherlock Holmes movie. I (and many others) think Robert Downey Jr. has proved himself again and again over the past five years to be one of the finest actors in Hollywood today. So as far as performances go, we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
The Sherlock Holmes movie is being directed by Guy Ritchie making this by far his largest production film. Guy Ritchie is the man behind "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" which means the man has a pretty solid grasp on what he's doing. The crew overall for the Sherlock Holmes movie is very solid and as a result the movie should at the very least be entertaining. Here's a brief synopsis of the movie's plot from IMBD:
"Detective Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England."

However, if you're like me, I find that synopsis a little lacking, here's a more in-depth look at the plot of the Sherlock Holmes movie:
"The movie starts off in London (of course) and the year is 1891 with a night time chase overlayed with a narration by Mr. Watson.
Watson describes London as the capital of the world full of criminals and villainy. Funny, it reminds me of Mos Eisley. He also explains who he is.
During a foot chase we are introduced to Sherlock Holmes. Holmes has a very dry sense of humour and is, just like in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books, very thorough in his observations.
The foot chase quickly goes underground into the sewer.
In the sewers, Holmes with the help of Mr. Watson gets himself in a fist fight with a bunch of bowler hat wearing, gun-totting thugs and also a 400lb, 7 foot giant.
All this while a dark robed Satan worshiper is about to sacrifice himself a hot young girl.
After an all out fight, Holmes and Watson defeat the thugs and the dark robed villain named Lord Blackwood."

As you can see, when it comes to the Sherlock Holmes movie the audience is in for a real treat and thrill ride. Now it's just a waiting game, and I for one cannot wait for this film, I'm already on the edge of my seat. In the meantime, I'm going to be reading lots and lots of Sherlock Holmes books. You'd be surprised at the quality of Sherlock Holmes books out there, Google it for yourself and see! You'll be pleasantly surprised and have something great to occupy you until the movie comes out.
