Hee's baaack! Well, not exactly. As those who have been following the Saw series would know, our killer who loves to teach, Jigsaw is now in the great puzzle of the beyond and likely getting taught some lessons himself. But, just to make sure you don't feel lonely and missed, we're taking you into the past for Saw 4.

The fourth film in the series takes us into new and uncharted waters. Now that Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) is dead, screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have decided it's time to dig into the mind of a mad man. They have decided to show us Jigsaw's early life and what makes him do what he does (well duh, he's nuts, right? Ah, but how did he get to be so nuts, that's the question we're all dying (no pun intended) to find out.) Along the way to telling us this story, they still throw in the usual assortment of blood and guts that you know and love to watch in every other horror movie ever made.

Let's begin by talking a bit about the end of the previous movie. Remember that Jigsaw actually swallowed his last tape before he died. Well you'll get the chance to see an autopsy that would put Six Feet Under, CSI and Bones to shame where the body is splayed and guts are spread out all over the place in search of the mysterious tape, which has somehow survived being swallowed and can now be played back for chilling effect (cue the scary music).

In his tape, Jigsaw promises his work will continue and he says that by the way, you've got 90 minutes to go and rescue SWAT team members Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) and Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), who are to die either through the use of a block of ice or in a very unfortunate encounter with some high voltage wires.

How Jigsaw managed to time exactly how long it would take for them to get his tape out of his stomach so he know exactly how long to give our hero, we're not sure, but hey, the Saw series long ago left behind the intelligence that made the first one so successful and we're now into Saw 4 where blood and guts are there for the sake of blood and guts. Along the way, we get to see our teaching killer one last time through a series of flashbacks which show us his early life, which really is there just for the same of pretending there is a point to this series instead of the pure blood and guts enjoyment of the series.
