QuickTip Tip Calculator (Free)

REVIEW- "Quick Tip Won't Leave You Short-Changed"

How many times have you gone out to eat and upon finishing your meal, sat tediously calculating your grand total? One turkey club sandwich, a side Caesar salad, and a large iced tea, cost you $10.80. Move the decimal up one place and 10% of that is $1.08. Now, divide that by two, and that's 5% of the original, $1.08, which is .54 cents. Now, add $1.08 to .54 cents and you get $1.62. That's your tip.

Are you as exhausted as I am? I usually leave a standard $5.00 tip just to avoid the hassle, but that can be a real pocket pincher after awhile. However, QuickTip Tip Calculator is "tipping made easy."

Plain in appearance, with a black and white screen, QuickTip is as simple as it looks. Type in your total, and QuickTip will automatically figure your total with the standard 15% tip. Want to leave more? Slide the tip amount scale to the right, and you can leave up to 30%! Was the service sub-par? Slide the tip amount bar to the left and leave 10%, 5% or nothing at all!

If you don't like having loose change in your pockets or calculating to the nearest penny in your check ledger, QuickTip has you in mind. At the bottom of the screen, once you've entered the bill amount, you'll see a Round Total section. Click down and QuickTip rounds down your total bill to the nearest whole dollar. Click up and QuickTip rounds up your total bill to the nearest whole dollar.

Spare Change is set to release a newer version of QuickTip in a few months. This version will allow consumers to customize their default percentages and other settings. It will also allow consumers to calculate their own bill before it comes with new subtotal and sales tax features.

Still, QuickTip hangs on the coattails of some of its competitors like iTip, which allows you to split your cost with a party of 4 or more. But if I had a meal and water and my friends had Cokes, do you I want to split the bill 4 ways?

I wish there were multiple interface options: one for dining alone, one for dining among friends, and a subset option that helped you divide the bill by meal when you are among friends.

However, few tip applications can be all things to everyone. QuickTip Tip Calculator comes close and can certainly be a back pocket pal for the frequent diner. As an outgoing college student, I've already used it twice today. QuickTip is certainly a basic must have.
