Free photo magnets are out there if you look hard enough. Navigate to any number of websites that list free stuff, and you'll probably find someplace that will provide free magnets with photos on them. To be a truly valuable, though, you would have to be able to put your own photos on them. (Who would want a photo magnet with someone else's kid on it?) So…just send your photograph to them and they'll print it for you, right?

Well, maybe not.

There is a problem with that scenario. It normally requires a lot of work to create a custom magnet like that. The customer must send the photograph to the company, as well as indicating what text they want, and where to put it. Then the company has to design the magnet and reply with a proof for approval. If the customer doesn't like it, the process must be done again. Lather, rinse, repeat until they are happy. All of that takes human intervention and time, which is money to a business. Therefore, you will rarely find a place that offers free photograph magnets simply because they will lose too much money.

What is the alternative?

The answer is simple. Just have an on-line design tool that allows the customer to edit the picture until they come up with the design they like. They can edit for hours…days even…until they get a creation that fits their needs. Once they have the design, they simply click "send" and it goes to the company for printing. It's an ideal situation. You don't have to worry about anyone else adjusting or fooling with your design.

Quality.

Free doesn't mean junk, though. If you are able to find a supplier of free photo magnets, you should still be concerned about getting a quality product. Some companies produce magnets that have the old square corners on them, but a few manufactures go the extra step to make their magnets with professional looking rounded corners. The square corner magnets look like they were cut out with an old paper cutter used by the art teacher when you were in grade school.

Next should be the printing process. Be aware that some companies are working out of their basement and use a cheap inkjet printer and a laminator. Others are done with outdated equipment and materials. Do some snooping to discover if they business with which you are dealing is using the four-color printing process, which is used in the commercial printing industry for the reproduction of color images. If they don't have that, then you should consider moving on to another company.

The rest is up to you. Dig around on the internet and scour all of the sites that offer free products until you come across one that offers free photo magnets for you. Pick the one with the obvious quality and selection you need and go for it. What the heck…it's free!
