REVIEW - "A Classic Reborn…"

What can I say? This brings back memories of the good old NES. If you enjoyed PAC-MAN as a kid, this game is basically an almost exact port of PAC-MAN for the NES. The maps are the same, the ghosts even behave in pretty much exactly the same way when the game is set to "Classic" Mode.

When you open this up, it just feels like PAC-MAN. It feels like nothing has changed and you're all the way back in the 1990's just chillin' at home waiting for the Cosby Show to come on, or whatever they watched back then… I'm not that old… sigh…

While not much has changed, Namco has added a couple of extra difficulty settings, and they did an excellent job of offering several different methods to control the game as well! You can use the accelerometer, which is alright, but tough to make quick tight turns with, you can use a control pad on the screen, or you can use a new method called "swipe." Basically this allows you to just swipe across the screen in the direction that you want to move. This method is by far my favorite, and allows you to really get into the game without the distraction of realizing that you don't have a physical control pad.

This Lite version is just to give you a taste of what the full version has to offer and so it only includes the first level, but that is more than enough to get anyone that enjoys PAC-MAN hooked! The full version of this app costs only $5.99 and would be a welcome addition to any nostalgic gamers' device!
