Packing for Branson Shows – Some Sound Suggestions

Branson shows are wonderful because the atmosphere throughout town is very casual. It is helpful, however, to know a little about what to expect and thus what to pack for your visit.
Branson is blessed with a fairly mild climate. Daytime temperatures in winter generally hover around the 40-degree mark, and the lowest temperatures get at night is perhaps 20 to 30 degrees. In the summer months, the highs are usually in the 80s and the lows in the 50s and 60s.
In addition to your Branson tickets, you should pack enough casual clothing to get through your stay. While the atmosphere is indeed casual, it's best to not look too sloppy. Many Branson shows involve mild audience participation. Quite often, someone will be picked from the audience to answer a question, sing a song, or help with a trick. You don't want to be so "casual" as to embarrass your family and friends in the audience, especially if there's a chance your 15 minutes of fame might be caught on video.
You never know when that will happen either. For example, Yakov Smirnoff's Dinner Adventure usually starts with a warm-up act. Sometimes someone's birthday will be acknowledged, or audience members may be drawn into an impromptu beach-ball volleyball game. So make sure what you're wearing is clean and presentable, or you (or your spouse) may cringe later.

Many people prefer packing neutral-colored clothing that mixes and matches. In spring and in fall, it's helpful to bring a light jacket and rain gear. In winter, bring along a winter coat, hat, and gloves. Any snowfall is likely to be light, but warm shoes and/or boots and thick socks may be helpful. In summer, definitely pack sunscreen, a sun hat, and a swimsuit along with your shorts and T-shirts. While you generally don't need to dress up for church on Sunday, a pretty summer sundress packs easily, feels comfortable, and looks appropriate. Comfortable walking shoes are always in order.
If you visit Branson during the winter, make sure to dress in layers. There are usually crowds at Branson shows, and you don't want to get overheated. Make sure you have a pocket, a purse, or a bag of some sort to tuck your gloves and hat away safely during the show. It's a good idea to have a tote bag with you throughout your stay because many Branson shows offer souvenirs. If you go to a dinner show, such as Yakov Smirnoff's Dinner Adventure, you may need to take home your leftovers – the portions served are always generous.

Previous travelers have found ingenious ways to pack clothing items so they stay wrinkle free. If you pack a towel, you can wrap it around a hanger before putting your delicate clothes on it. If you pack some straws, you can "snake" your valuable necklaces through them to keep them from getting tangled or lost. (Close the clasp once both ends of the chain are visible and cut the straw to fit the length of the necklace.)
By following these easy tips, you will be casual, comfortable, and stylish at all the Branson shows you attend.
