Ozzy Osbourne was born in the year 1948 as John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham. As the lead vocalist for Black Sabbath, a heavy metal band, Ozzy Osbourne is known to be one of the most influential artists of rock of all times. He achieved huge exposure and success as the member of the band. However, not many had dreamed that his accidental career as a solo artist would also be long lasting, legendary and consistent as it has been for the last several decades. Osbourne, in essence has been the key innovator, principal founder and the fervent defender of the genre of hard rock.

The Beginning of His Career

Like so many other artists growing up in Birmingham, Osbourne had found himself in a distinctively blue collar job in a large family wile growing up. However, even though he had an educational career that was marred by many learning disabilities he had shown early interest for music and theatre as a teenager. After leaving school at fifteen and several uninteresting jobs, he eventually found salvation in the band that he formed with Tony Iommi, a schoolmate in the year 1968. After playing psychedelic blues, the band settled on the name Black Sabbath as the name for their band.

Black Sabbath

Ozzy Osbourne had been a little odd and shy in his demeanour and appearance but he made for a perfect quirky and a very mesmerizing frontman for the band. It is said that he had been inspired by Geezer Butler’s dream imagery and occult fuelled career. The self titled first album of the band had been a blues based, ominous sonic palette that had been laced with menace. Although quite a lot of this has been as a result of the somber and dark style of Iommi, the anguished vocals of Osbourne and the lyrics of Butler’s explored several murky notions of helplessness and madness. It helped build the stunning success of the group and concerts of the band as well as Ozzy Osbourne tickets were always snapped up by the fans quickly over the decades.

The Birth of the Solo Artist

The band stumbled down from their consistent performance during the 70s due to the member’s alcohol and drug abuse and Osbourne had been fired from the band in the year 1979. Although he had been depressed for a long time, Osbourne quickly came up with his solo career with the help of Sharon, his future wife. His solo career continued to be based on horror movie imagery with greater visual flair and flamboyance. Between 1980 and 83 he released three very popular albums which magnified his solo career into a legend that was hardly imaginable. It was even more impressive that he managed to do it all through the tragedy of his close friend and struggles against substance abuse.

Brief Decline and Rebirth

During the mid 80s he had become a tireless performer and a big hit with his tours for which the Ozzy Osbourne tickets had been much coveted. However, he continued to press on and he later emerged in the year 1988 with No Rest for the Wicked, his new album that brought major success to him. He had briefly gone on to retirement by the new decade but it was a state that he could not abide by. Sharon, his wife helped him keep this tours going and the tours had been a major success. Ozzy Machine kept finding diverse ways with the creation of a tour series of smash hit heavy metal tours. The Ozzfest was next and even a new reality television series in the new millennium had been released. Ozzy Osbourne remains one of the most recognizable stars today and has a potent influence and draw even after 40 years in the business. The legendary artist is all set for his upcoming concert series in the US starting from 5th December to 22nd February, 2011. Ozzy Osbourne tickets for his concert series are now available online.
