You should be careful with giving someone a present. A waiting period is usually inevitable before you notice the person liking the gift or not. If the gift was addressed to the president then there would be more weight on your shoulders. She has her gift with her as she visited the president but before entering she needed to sign a visitor's log. After all the protocols were observed it was the guard who ended up delivering the portrait of Little Man the president's horse to him.

The artist, who lives on Old National Pike with her husband and their six month old son, paints animal portraits. The business came about after learning about art and taking portrait lesson and merging the two things that she loves animals and portraiture. With the passion she has for what she does, consequently her business has been raking in some big money.

Using the photographs of the animals as her base, she uses pastels to them transform them into portraits. With her horse portraits she often uses show photos. She says she falls in love with all the animals, having done horses, cats, dogs, a goat, parakeets and guinea pigs so far. It is easy for her now to make paintings with furry animals but now she wants to make one for fishes and turtles utilizing oil paintings. Normally she changes the way an animal looks so that the portraits will be more appreciated.

It was her idea to paint Little Man and wanting to for so long, she contacted the first lady at last for a few photos. After a month or so she was able to hear back from the Special Assistant to the President and Director of Correspondence and get photographs of the president and the horse. She was unaccustomed to the way she only has the photos as basis. Usually she goes to the animal's home and meets the pet and owner, getting to know the animal's personality a bit and making notes on color, as a color photo often will not be true.

Even though the project was still being worked on, she received news of Little Ma's death. For her, she just wants the portrait to mean something to the president now. Wanting to finish her work, she then divided it into four stages. What she did first was to make an outline with pastel that showed the locations of the dark, medium and light shadow tones. Adding the color was next and in order to blend it in well, she needed to use her fingertips.

Little Man had a light blue background as adding in the bland background was next. Lastly, it was important to make it look real. She wanted to capture the authenticity of the portrait hence she spends many a nights doing this.

She created a portrait of Little Man because she was interested in animals. It is in Poolesville where you can find her horse since she herself loves them. Along with her horse is a cat, a dog and a goat. She has a lot of happiness as all gift givers do for having given the president her work.
