Just this other day I encountered a problem with my computer. I am very much into music and like to do stuff on Able-ton live and other such software. Needless to say, musicians like me get pretty irritated if the problem is related to a technical glitch rather than a shortcoming in our musical prowess. The problem was perhaps with my sound drivers. At least this is what I thought and I started to work around the internet to find a solution.

What I Did:

I pretty much searched most free software websites and forums but was unable to find a good enough patch. Some of them said that they have it available for free but required some lengthy registration forms and what not. And with forums, the chances of downloading a malware in the guise of a certified software is enormously high. The only feasible solution which came to be was of getting an online technical support service.

How I Got Across PCCare247:

Just a simple search of the term online technical support service in Google will lead you to innumerable results. At the very top of the search results was PCCare247, which in itself is quite a credibility building feat. To appear among the top of the rankings, a website needs to present for a brief amount of time and it is necessary that the website is legitimate, two important factors among a host of criteria determining search results. Anyways, the website too seemed pretty good and I eventually gave them a call at their toll free number.

My Experience with PCCare247:

The agent was quite courteous and spoke good English, although with a hint of Asian accent. He listened to my problem and actually transferred my call to a techie guy in the other team. He took control of my computer with a remote desktop application (this is what they said it was) and ran a scan. He pointed out that my drivers were missing as well as that some files in the installed Able-ton live version had gone corrupted. He said that he would be able to fix that but would take at least 3-4 hours for getting the right replacements for the Able-ton live software was very difficult. Reinstalling the software was not possible as I did not have the CD with me at the moment. I was then transferred to the sales department.

The same guy spoke to me again ( I do not remember the name but I guess it was Bruce) and he spelled out the computer care packages they were offering. I took the package which was of $79.99 and gave me access to five incidents throughout an year. After the payment and other formalities were done, I was again routed back to the technical department.

The techie again took control of my computer with their remote desktop application. He then told me that I could leave the computer and attend to other work while he went about solving the problem. I went outside after telling him that he would need to call me on my cell as soon as he finished. Thankfully enough, he called me after about three hours time to report he had the computer working fine now. And he was indeed correct, all my audio files played with ease.

My Final Take:

My experience with PCCare247 was indeed a pleasant one. However, just do not take my word for it. Experience it for yourself. I do realize that there are many online support scams operating in the market with the sole purpose of looting the money of people not well conversed with computers. You can say that I was lucky that I got across pCCare247 in the first try itself. Also, make sure that you write about good experiences you may have with technical support companies rather than just writing about scam and fraudulent support companies. It is good that you warn people about fraudsters, but online technical support is a pretty nice service to have and it is even better if you can tell people which service to use, just like I have done in this article.

Scams and fraudsters are pretty much lurking everywhere in the cyber world. Do your part of research before investing money, and this holds true of any service that you might take on the internet.
