REVIEW - "Movies Just How I Like Them"

If you're one of those movie fans who combs IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes for information about movies you might see, you have seen, or think you don't want to see, Flixster is for you.

This free iPhone app provides a wealth of information about movies currently in theaters, coming to theaters or on DVD.

You can start by looking at "box office", which shows you which movies are coming out and which are currently in theatres. If movies are currently in theatres, you can see how much money they have made, what other fans think of the movie and you can read professional reviews of the movie. If a movie has not yet been released, you can read information about the movie, see what others are saying and check out the movie's website.

Perhaps most useful, the app lets you see where a movie is playing and at what time. This makes split second movie decisions easy.

Click on "theaters" to set your favorite theater information, and use the DVD button to read about recently released DVDs. It would be excellent if Flixster was paired with Amazon or some other online retailer allowing the purchase of a DVD with the press of a finger.

We like that Flixster is a little bit like social networking for movies. Through this app, you can connect to your Facebook account and rate movies to share with your friends. If you have a large group of friends who enjoy movies, this gives you an opportunity to share what you've seen (and rub it in if nobody else has seen a movie yet).

The Flixster app (an extension of www.flixster.com) partners with IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes to give you up-to-date and fulsome information on each film and actor.

All in all, this app is fun and easy to use, and provides as much information about a movie as you could find elsewhere.
