Learning how to apply makeup takes a long time, and it is more trial and error than anything. It's important to spend time finding out what looks good, and what doesn't look so good. There is however some great tips that you can use to make sure you get the best out of your makeup and improve your look as much as possible.

You should first spend time researching the various different types of makeup so that you know how to apply it. There are all sorts of different types of makeup, including makeup for the eyes, lips, eye lashes, and face. You don't need to use it all, select what you want to use and let it to highlight your natural features.
Concealer is only required if you have blotches or spots that you want to hide. If you have fairly good skin then a bit of foundation will be all you need. It's important to choose a foundation that matches your skin tone rather than being too light or dark. This will make it much easier to blend into your skin.

Once you've finished on your face you can do your eyes. It's a good idea to do eye shadow first, then eyeliner and finish by putting on mascara. Make sure that your eyes are relaxed when applying makeup and look down when you're putting on eye shadow. This is to minimise the chances of lines in your makeup.

You will probably want to make your eyes stand out, in which case you will need to use eye liner. You do however need to be careful that you don't apply too much. Be subtle with it so that you highlight your eyes without looking like a panda. Pull the skin around your eye tight so that it's easier to put the eye liner on.


Whenever you're applying makeup make sure you have tissues, cotton buds, and cotton wool all close at hand in case you make a mess. You can use cotton buds to get rid of any mistakes without damaging the rest of your makeup. Don't get too upset if you make a mess on your first attempt, it really is about trial and error. You need to spend time carefully trying out various techniques to make the most out of your facial features.
