No matter what your budget may be, it makes sense to optimize your expenses when setting up a party. Even if the costs of some items that you want for your
party might be expensive you should learn how to get the most for your money and
set a reasonable budget..

Allocating a budget for a party does not mean that your party cannot be fabulous
or extravagant. Since you already have to plan the party you might as well plan
how much you intend to spend. Here are some tips on how to host a party on a
budget.

1. List the names of the guests you will invite.

Invite only those people who you want most at your party. If it is a business
party there is no reason to invite family or the neighbors. On the other hand,
if you are having a family party there is no reason to invite everyone from work.

2. Select dishes that need less preparation but are still impressive.

Find a variety of dishes that cost less but still look fabulous and taste great.
Ease of preparation usually equates to less ingredients. Remember it is not

about the price of the dish but rather the presentation. Of course it also helps
if it tastes good. If you are short on time, comparison shop between a few
different catering services.

3. Serve fewer courses and limit the choices of food.

If you are having a dinner party you only really need one appetizer. Concentrate
more on the main meal that you intend to serve for the party. Become familiar
with the dishes that are commonly served at similar events whether it is a
wedding reception or a dinner party.

4. Purchase wine in bulks.

The price of wine in bulk should be much cheaper compared to buying the same
wine in bottles. Serving wine in the right carafes can appear much more elegant
than bottles.

5. If possible use your own tables, chairs, and utensils for the party

Only rent or purchase the things that you absolutely do not have at home.
Perhaps you have family members and friends you feel comfortable borrowing from.
They can even help you set up the tables and chairs.

Begin planning early for the party to avoid having to makes last minutes
purchases. Use your garden or patio for your party rather than renting a space.
For larger parties, rather than using a reception or banquet hall, consider
hosting the party outdoors where you can have more space.

Planning and hosting a party includes many details. If you can save a small
amount on each detail you will be saving a big chunk of money. All the better
for having more fun and enjoying your party.
