Photo facials are much more than pictures of one‘s profile. They are a technology based on different styles of lights for skin treatments which build collagen and decrease a variety of skin conditions including acne. The two most popular types of bulbs used are light-emitting diodes, LEDs, and intense-pulsed light, IPLs. They are two completely different forms of the same treatment.
The LED facials are believed to be extremely relaxing and pain free. They are different from laser treatments in that they don‘t cause a burning to any part of the body. They use a thin spectrum of light to boost collagen. LED facials use six treatments with a week to two weeks between each treatment. After the initial six treatments, it is said that patients should have treatments once every month to two months. LED treatments are less costly than a more complicated cosmetic treatment.
IPL is a laser treatment photo facial that treats a variety of skin disorders like brown spots, broken capillaries, facial redness and spider veins. IPLs use a bright shot of light at high energy levels through a hand held device. Some IPLs can be uncomfortable and could possible cause some discomfort. However, IPLs are more effective than an LED for skin conditions. The amount of treatments may vary depending on the condition that is being treated and the way it reacts to the skin.

Regardless of the treatment type you choose, photo facials often work better when coupled with a normal skin care routine. As is the case with any procedure, there may be side effects, and research should be done before having any treatment. For all answers to questions you may have about photo facials and skin care routines, be sure to consult your physician. It’s always best to be as educated as possible before deciding on any cosmetic surgery.
