House is basically about Dr. Gregory House who along with his team takes up strange medical cases, in fact they specialize in them. The treatment that they provide is not provided anywhere else. They all together run this hospital by the name Princeton-Plainsboro, Dr. House being the head of the department. Dr. House's character basically is defined as a lonely character that does not have friends; he is a pain killer addict, witty and arrogant medical doctor. But when it comes to his services he is the best and that is the reason he has managed a great deal of respect for himself.

While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a maverick physician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts have afforded him a great deal of respect. The most inspiring thing about House's character is that he is a limp and this factor gives us inspiration to bear pain with a smile. The only friend that he has managed to make in the series is Wilson.

Dr. House happened to be a genius in his field, an infectious disease specialist. His brilliance shining brightest when solving complex medical cases that had thoroughly baffled all the other experts, and correctly diagnosing rare, obscure and highly lethal diseases, literally snatching his patients from the jaws of death at the last moment in many case. There is probably nothing more irksome that someone who thinks he's always right, and who turns out to BE always right: That was House. To his credit, he inspired great loyalty and admiration from his long-suffering staff.

House M.D. besides focusing on medical problems and solving cases for people also focuses on others characters of the series, which form an important part of the series. House's team consists of Cuddy and Wilson, when the series started but later on more members were added to the team as and when. Though the main aim of the series is to help people with their medical problems but their personal lives are also brought into notice. House pays a special attention to what is going on in their personal lives and that their personal lives should not affect their professional lives.

Though officially based on an article about a real-life diagnostician who specialized in unusual medical cases, star Hugh Laurie has admitted that the weekly, hour-long medical drama House was also heavily beholden to the "Sherlock Holmes" stories, and certainly the series contained numerous Holmesian elements: The similar surname of aloof, antisocial "detective" who doggedly scrutinized each and every detail of the case at hand, the Watson like best friend, and the reliance upon narcotics.

In the end House M.D. is a medical series, where the doctors have to face unusual medical ailments. It is a unique show with an interesting way of dealing with ailments, with very appealing characters. The series is currently running into its fifth season and all those who are missing on the show, must watch it once in order to get hooked to it.
