Often used as a substitute to 'real' sunbathing where one lies out in the sun to tan, indoor tanning lotions provide another way to get a beautiful, bronzed body. Indoor tanning is popular because of the ever present concern about getting skin cancer or other diseases caused by overexposure to the sun and UV rays.

Your tanning salons is somewhere where you might go when you are ready to begin buying tanning lotions. They are staffed with professionals who will be able to assist you in finding the right lotions based on your specific tanning needs. They'll also be able to answer any questions that you may have about tingle lotions. However, you also have other options for locations to buy tanning lotions. Once you know what type of lotions you want to buy you might check online for them. You will find that they are a lot cheaper online and just as good as what you will find in the salon.

People who have never used indoor tanning lotions before may be surprised and concerned when they first apply a tanning lotion. This is because many of these lotions can create a slight tingling sensation on the skin. What causes this tingle?

The tingle is caused by some of the different chemicals which have been added to the lotion. These additives are added in order to stimulate the skin's production of colour. Your skin colour is produced naturally in your body in the form of melanin which is brought to the surface of your skin by the blood. The ingredients in the lotion stimulate faster blood flow to the skin surface which, when exposed to UV rays from a sunbed, then create a darker skin tone.

This tingle varies immensely between different people. Sometimes it is impossible to gaurentee the effect on each different skin so you should try it out on a small area first. In some cases people complain that it actually burns their skin whereas others have no tingling feeling at all with the same product.

It has not been proven one way or the other whether this tingle harms the skin in any way, however if you find it to be somewhat uncomfortable there are many other products on the market. Non tingle lotions have different ingredients in them which do not cause the skin to tingle - some actually assist with moisturising of the skin. One of these additives is DHA (or dihydroxyacetone) which reacts with proteins in your skin to turn you brown. Moisturisers that are added are ingreidients such as like tea tree oil and primrose oil. You should always choose a lotion that conatins a moisturizer to keep your skin from developing wrinkles.
