Tweezing your eyebrows is often a painful process, but with a little practice, you can have the perfect eyebrows you want with almost no pain.

I won't pretend that pulling hair out by the root is ever going to be pain free. However, once you get the hang of how to do it correctly, it's quick and easy with much less pain.

A couple things should be considered before you pluck. The first one is, what shape do you want your eyebrows to be. Are you simply removing a few stray strands, or do you wish to reshape the whole brow?

Take a look at pictures online or in magazine for faces similar to yours and see what kinds of eyebrows match well. Pencil thin lines above large, wide eyes doesn't look very natural. You also might be surprised how little trimming and shaping is actually needed. Most eyebrows naturally follow the bone structure around our eye sockets, so it's usually only the strays or overgrowth that need to be removed.

Before you start, make sure you are using clean utensils. Rinse tweezers and grooming scissors (those tiny scissors used for trimming moustaches) with hot, soapy water, and place them on a towel to air dry.

Wash your face clean of make-up, oil and dirt. Use warm to mildly hot water to open your pores. This makes the hair removal easier. Start plucking the outer most hairs and strays first. Go back and forth between brows to make sure you are plucking evenly.

The outside edges of the eyebrow are usually the places that need to be plucked, while the body of the brow can often be trimmed with grooming scissors. This keeps as much natural eyebrow in place, but still adds shape to your brows. When you're done, rinse your face with cold water to close those pores you opened and help reduce any redness or swelling.

Finally, if you need to finish off the look, you can use a little brow liner. Apply it in small strokes on your natural brow, using a eyebrow brush to blend it in. It takes a little practice, but before you know it, you'll be creating perfect eyebrows every time.
