While many users of iPhones and subsequent apps seem to use them mainly for platform games, music or some other leisure activity, CVS Pharmacy is proving that these apps have the ability to perform important tasks as well. The introduction of their new mobile iPhone App could make a world of difference to their customers.
Americas top retail pharmacy, The CVS Pharmacy, has announced that it is to launch its own mobile iPhone App for those customers with an iPhone. It will be a free a free download available from the Apple App Store and iTunes, and the application itself will leverage tools that are available on the CVS.com website. Managing prescriptions, arranging a schedule to have your flu shot, or even simply planning your shopping trip can all be done from anywhere with mobile coverage.
Once CVS/Pharmacy customers have downloaded the free application they will be able to take advantage of a plethora of features which will include:
• Being able to refill prescriptions for pick-up at a CVS Pharmacy of your choice using a personalized prescription history.
• Being able to transfer prescriptions from a different pharmacy over to a CVS Pharmacy.
• Finding any CVS Pharmacy location by using the GPS-type store locator with its integrated maps and driving instructions.
• Look at and manage any sales circulars to see what money-saving offers there are for a particular week, as well as build a custom shopping list to shorten those shopping trips.
• Schedule or cancel a flu shot at a CVS/Pharmacy store of your choice.
• Being able to access the Drug Information Center in order to receive critical or crucial details concerning medication management, as well as being able to read dosage information, side effects, instructions for use and any relevant safety warnings or precautions.
The Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Marketing of CVS Pharmacy, Mr. Rob Price stated that the company has introduced the new CVS Pharmacy mobile application in order to provide their customers with the ability to better manage their prescriptions and to access important health information from their choice of location. He also said that in addition to managing prescriptions, the application will enable customers to instantly access to the company’s flu shot scheduler, and that customers will even have the ability to plan their shopping trips ahead of time by using their mobile circular.
In a world of modern technology where it seems that everyone who uses Apps seems to use them for playing iPhone games or listening to music or some other leisure activity, it certainly stands out when a company as large as CVS Pharmacy leads the way with an app designed to improve their customer service.
It will certainly be interesting to see what future iPhone application reviews have to say about this app, but it sounds like it could become a major contender in the App listings. Present customers should be impressed, and it might even be a contributor to winning over some of their contender’s customers as well. It will be interesting to see what other large companies might develop in the wake of this app.

I became a game enthusiast when my parents first gave me a cell phone with the classic snake game. Ever since I have been a close follower of the evolution of games in cellphones. Now I have unlimited options with the applications that are coming out for iPhone and other brands. As I started a family I took a particular interest in using different applications that make life easier, not only games. I enjoy looking up recipes with my daughter and doing her banking through my iPhone.
