Obviously it's important to get the major networks (NBC, CNN, Movie Channel, CBC etc) but you should also get access to a bunch of specialty channels as well. The better online TV software programs will literally let you watchover 1,000 TV channels.

A great feature that I saw is the ability to schedule and record whatever show you want. It works similar to a "Tivo" - you can record whatever program you want so that you can then view whenever you want. This feature isn't part of most programs, but you can find it so shop around. The program should also have the option to connect your computer to your Television set if you want to be able to watch TV on your main TV set.

You need to also make sure that you won't have to pay any monthly charges. The best software programs will only bill you once for unlimited access to their channels. This way you aren't billed any monthly charges which obviously makes it a better deal when you compare it to cable or satellite TV. Avoid any software program that wants to charge you a monthly fee as you can find] a better deal.

Altogether, I was amazed with what I saw. The best programs cost around $40-$50 for loads of channels which makes it unbelievably affordable. I should warn you though, it can be extremely addictive!
