It is both painful and embracing to have acne-prone skin. The best remedies for that are often not in the products found in the market that treat blemishes and acne; but in homemade products that not only clean but add a glow to your complexion. These home remedies for glowing skin are made of ingredients that you always have in your kitchen. You do not put harsh chemicals to your skin when you use these remedies made totally of natural products. That is why they feel so good when put on skin.

Honey

Throughout history, honey has always been the product man has used for treating skin conditions as revealed in the new study from Honey Research Unit of University of Waikato in New Zealand. Honey’s antifungal and antimicrobial properties are well known and new studies show that when it touches your skin, it produces hydrogen peroxide in low level that prevents the formation of new blemishes while treating existing acne. As one of the home remedies for glowing skin, honey is used as a mask which is to be left for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off. This is best done before going to bed. For spot treatment of blemishes, you can try a mixture of honey and cinnamon powder. For cleaning those dead skin cells from your face, create a fantastic exfoliating scrub by mixing salt or sugar with honey. Use this scrub only once or twice a week.

Lemon Juice

Alpha-hydroxy acid is present in good amount in lemon juice which makes it so good for unclogging pores as an exfoliator. It is also good for skin due to presence of vitamin C. The acid in the juice relaxes the buildup of dead skin cells in your face and also unclogs pores to help get rid of acne. During this process, it also prevents the formation of new blemishes. Scars also get faded away as it lightens the skin. To create your own version of home remedies for glowing skin, use the juice of a whole lemon and simply apply it on your blemishes. If you have sensitive skin, then do not use it directly; dilute it with equal amount of rosewater or plain water which should be kept for about 20 minutes before being rinsd off. This excellent toner will refresh any tired skin. Limes can become good substitute if lemons are not present.

Tea Tree Oil

The leaves of Melalueuca alternifolia plant, native to Australia, are distilled to produce the essential oil called Tea tree oil. This oil features in many home remedies for glowing skin as well for treating acne as it has great antifungal and antimicrobial properties. You can use it by itself as well. The Department of Dermatology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital situated in Australia undertook a study in 1990 which showed that tea tree oil may work slowly vis-à-vis peroxide, but it has far lesser side effects than the latter. So you can apply it directly as a spot treatment for blemishes as well as combine it with other ingredients like honey to make a fantastic skin mask. It also becomes great toner when diluted with water.

Oatmeal

Many of us know it as the perfect breakfast meal but it can also be great treatment for rosacea and acne due to the presence of vitamin E in it which moisturizes and soothes your skin. It also has saponins that help to clear oil and dirt from your skin. One of the best home remedies for glowing skin involves the use of ground or colloidal oatmeal and even FDA has recognized it in their OTC Skin Protectant Monograph as a treatment for inflammatory skin conditions. All you have to do to create a soothing and healing mask is grind dry oats in a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle and combine it with water. When you rinse off this mask, it also exfoliates your skin due to its fine granular particles. If you have sensitive skin, then you can first cook it before applying on your face. Then let it dry and rinse with warm water.
