The first time I really locked eyes with Michael Ealy was when he was cutting hair in that famed Barbershop (2002). He became my new thug crush. Larenz Tate from Menace (1993) was my first. I’ve kept my eye on Michael since then, and I know most of you ladies have as well. In 2005, he starred in the Oprah Winfrey/Quincy Jones production, Their Eyes Are Watching God with Halle Berry and 2008’s Seven Pounds with Will Smith. He also played Beyonce’s boyfriend in her music video for “Halo” (2008). Last month his star power continued to climb, co-starring as one in a cast full of honeys in the number one movie, Takers. Michael Ealy’s Hollywood star continues to blossom, and his mass sex appeal continues to attract. It was inevitable that we named him our Fly Guy this month.

On balancing work and personal life….

“You just make the time. Listen, I don’t cure cancer with what I do. It’s not like I have a real job. You just make the time.”

On celebrities giving back….

“I’ve never not given back. If other celebrities are becoming aware…they’re the ones that are behind the eight ball (chuckles).”

On being a sex symbol….

“I’m enjoying it. Thoroughly. There’s plenty [women] to talk to, take pictures with. It’s fun.”

On his relationship status….

“Single.”

On working with the Takers cast….

“T.I., Idris Elba, Chris Brown, Jay Hernandez, Zoe Saldana, Matt Dillon…everybody. It was fun. I had just finished Seven Pounds and Miracle at St. Anna (2008), and I needed something a little more light. Takers came and it was the perfect project for me. Even though I’m not very like ‘in it’ , under the circumstances it’s still a light film for me.”

On future projects….

“Californication [Showtime series, premiered in 2007 – Ealy joined earlier this year] comes out in January [2011]. I got something else [coming out] either January or February, but I’m not sure if it’s coming out so I don’t wanna say it, ‘cause you know, I thought Takers was coming out a year ago (chuckles).”
