Thanks to the latest technology, capturing unforgettable moments have now become extremely easy. Apart from digital cameras, cellular phones now come with built-in cameras that make it a lot easier to take pictures and preserve these precious moments. But what about those pictures that you have taken way before digital cameras became a commodity?

Many people can get really frustrated and disappointed with numerous pictures taken with still cameras because of the poor quality of the shot. Even if you have managed to find the negatives and have them reprinted, if the pictures were poorly taken to begin with, having them reproduced will be meaningless. But that does not mean to say that the photos cannot be salvaged. Using the simple Elements software, you will be able to improve the quality of the pictures and keep your memories alive.

Here are some nifty ways to tweak your photos, and just by putting this step by step Elements training to practice, you will be right on track...

Elements Training - Cropping

You look fabulous in your twelfth grade prom picture, but you'd rather forget that guy standing right next to you. By using the crop tool, you can be able to keep a copy of your high school prom picture sans your ex-sweetheart. After scanning the picture and opening the file in Elements software, drag the cursor while holding down the left button on your mouse to select the area that you want to keep. Then click on Image and select Crop. You will be left with the selected area of the picture that you have highlighted.

Elements Training - Fixing the Angles

If your little one tried to take a picture and it came out slightly tilted, you can realign it so that it comes out straight. Simply select the measuring tool located in your menu toolbar on the left side of your screen. Click on one horizon of the picture that you would like to realign and then dragging the cursor to the other end. This would repair any minor misalignments. If it still looks a bit off, click on the canvas option and rotate it on the canvas until you are satisfied with it. The Elements software will automatically expand the canvas to fill in the empty spots.

Elements Training - Color Touch Ups

If the lighting caused the picture you took to come up a tad bit too orange, you can also remedy this by adjusting the colors on the picture. Go to Image then select Adjustments and then Color Balance. It would open up a menu that would allow you to fix the colors of the picture. Just drag each cursor to the right or to the left. Since Elements comes with a preview feature, it would allow you to see the changes as you drag the cursors to help you make the picture come as close as how you remember it.

Elements Training - Sharpen

The most common of all pictures taken by film cameras is that sometimes they tend to look a little bit blurred. To bring out the details of the shot, select the sharpen feature in the Filter option on the menu bar. The program will automatically sharpen the details of the picture a little at a time. Continue the entire process until you are satisfied with the details of the entire picture.
