Dish Network Holiday Specials on TV

It's past Thanksgiving and for Dish Network programming that means its time for Holiday Specials on TV. Will Farell as Buddy the Elf Started it off on The USA Network on Black Friday. Soon to folllow will be Billy Bob Thorton as Bad Santa. Tim Allen as the Santa Clause and Tom Hanks as the Conductor on the Polar Express.


Here is a list of a few movies and stars that Have gotten us ready for the Christmas Holiday throughout the Years
It's a Wonderful Life - 1946

An angel helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. James Stewart stars in the Movie that revives the act of being thankful for the simple things you have such as family and friends. This show has been whittled down to usually one showing per year.
Miracle on 34th St - 1947

When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing. A remake in 1994 excluded Macy's Departmetn Store ( Who denied the film permission ) and without Macy's there can be no Macy's Parade and no Macy's Santa Clause.
A Christams Carol - 1951

Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge learns the error of his ways through the intervention of the ghost of his former partner and of three spirits in this faithful adaptation of the Dickens classic. With So many adaptions of this movie I would have to point to the most poular and the most recent a 2009 Animated version
Rudloph the Red Nosed Reinder - 1964

A misfit reindeer and his friends look for a place that will accept them.This movie was animated over forty years ago and continues to be a favporite to children and adults of all ages .
Frosty the Snowman - 1969

A living snowman and a little girl struggle to elude a greedy magician who is after the snowman's magic hat. A cartoon made in the late 60's that was based on the song Frosty the Snowman.
A Chritmas Story - 1983

Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - 1989

It's Christmas time and the Griswolds are preparing for a family seasonal celebration, but things never run smoothly for Clark, his wife Ellen and their two kids. Clark's continual bad luck is worsened by his obnoxious family guests, but he manages to keep going knowing that his Christmas bonus is due soon.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas - 2000

Based on the book by the famous Dr. Seuss. Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Who's, an almost mutated sort of munchkinlike people. All the Who's love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. The Grinch is a nasty creature that hates Christmas, and plots to steal it away from the Whos which he equally abhors. Yet a small child, Cindy Lou Who, decides to try befriend the Grinch.
Elf - 2003

Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa's sack and ended up at the North Pole. Later, as an adult human who happened to be raised by elves, Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs. Hobbs, on Santa's naughty list for being a heartless jerk, had no idea that Buddy was even born. Buddy, meanwhile, experiences the delights of New York City (and human culture) as only an elf can. When Walter's relationship with Buddy interferes with his job, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities.
Bad Santa - 2003

"Bad Santa" is the story of two conmen who go on a road trip to malls dressed as Santa and his elf. Rather than spreading good cheer, the duo's motive is to rob each establishment, a strategy that becomes complicated when they encounter an 8-year-old who teaches them the true meaning of Christmas.
The Polar Express - 2004

This is the story of a young hero boy on Christmas Eve who boards on a powerful magical train that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus's home. What unfolds is an an adventure which follows a doubting boy, who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole; during this ride, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.
