Friction can both be a blessing and a curse. While it does keep most things moving and on the ground, it is also the culprit when it comes to things breaking down. Wear and tear would not be possible without friction which, on the other hand, is also the primary reason why we are able to use things.

One such item that is constantly under the power of friction is the gas cooker. You might wonder how these two are related. Constant use of your gas cooker can lead to worn out gaskets, broken handles and detachable parts that just don't work anymore. Fortunately, a number of shops and appliance centers have the solution to this problem.

But wait, before you go out and head to the nearest appliance center, there are a few things you need to know first, foremost of which are the different parts of your cooker. The following are some of the most common parts that are subjected to wear and tear:

1. Controls - these are the knobs or dials that can be found on the front part of your gas cooker. These usually come off and, most often than not, get damaged by heavy duty pots and pans. Because of the grease and grime that they could incur, they can turn brittle and easily fall apart. Although it is relatively easy to find a replacement for this one, you should still keep spare parts for your cooker controls.

2. Central grill pipe and gas pipe to oven burner - more often than not, these are made up of heavy duty materials. Unfortunately, if you do not properly care for your oven, you might find yourself with broken and leaking pipes. This could pose a great hazard and is one of the reasons why many people die from stove fire. Shops and appliance centers that offer gas cooker spare parts would be able to help you replace this one.

3. Igniter - most free standing gas cookers come with an electric igniter. The button for this one can be found in front of your cooker. Spare parts for cooker igniter as well as the ignition button can be found in many appliance shops.
