Are the Commonwealth Games a waste of national money?

Answer: NO

The Games are scheduled to be held in Delhi between Oct 3 and Oct 14, 2010. The games will be the largest multi sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India generally, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.
The government has wasted thousands of crores of rupees on Common Wealth games. The initial budget was around 750 crores in 2003 which has drastically gone up to 15000 crores.

Issue:
However the fact is none of the stadiums are ready even today. The construction work is in full swing and the quality is being compromised. We are hearing and reading lot of news regarding large scale corruption involved in giving contracts
On the contrary it is the people who run it who are a waste.

An opportunity
Games like the Commonwealth are the only chance of global exposure for our sportsmen and the youth of the country to take up sports seriously.
Please supports INDIA by endorse the CWG Delhi 2010. Delhi has just had its worst rain in 35 years, You can't change an entire City to host an event when the basic foundations aren't there ... Appreciate the effort and support the country that is making it possible to held games here..
Now, the growing fear is that the event may not come off at all, as the threat looms of a boycott by England, Scotland and Wales.
So it's a big opportunity for us and must not leave any stone unturned ... I feel that Indians should think things from a positive angle ... This will give out a good message to the world that we can make things happen in India

If you are an Indian leave debating over such a trivial issue. Honor your country. & lets us all try making it a success. This is a good way to show our strength. There are lot of things to experience and lea the things. And also the most good thing about this event is that it will encourage our youth to participate and take more interest in games and sports. As children will see some of the great sportspersons of the world with their eyes and will inspire from them.
