Cell Phone Lookup: a Friend in Need

I just saw an ad in the back of the local paper that made me feel uneasy. In it, a lawyer promised to prevent registration for sex offenders. Apparently, according to his ad, "not all sex offenders need to register". Excuse me, who makes that decision?!

Granted, sex offenders are people too, and maybe some are even rehabilitated and deserve another chance, but there is no way for me to know who is and does, and who isn't and doesn't, is there? He never had to try because he never had to register! If a person next to me is a sex offender who can suppress that fact and infiltrate delicate aspects of my life, I want to know. Let me be the judge of whether I want to give the offender a chance or not. I'd prefer that to becoming a victim of an unprovoked attack by a dangerous pervert who, unbeknownst to me, works or lives next door.

Apparently though, it's not up to me, the potential victim, but some legal loophole. With that knowledge in mind, I again realize that I must keep my own counsel and rely on information I can obtain from a cell phone lookup on just about anyone who crosses my path. His name may not be on the National Registry, but unbeknownst to him, as long as I know that name, I can dig up facts about him within minutes.

I can look up his cell phone number, full name and age, where he lives, where he used to live, whom he lives with, even find out if he has a criminal history and its nature. If this person is a sex offender, he will have a record, and with the help of a cell phone lookup I can also run a background check and become aware of these crucial facts. Granted, I may have to run a cell phone lookup on just about every person who crosses my path, but under the circumstances, while there may still be unregistered sex offenders running around, I'd say it's a small price to pay.
