Why buy the Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II? The answer must be more megapixels. To my knowledge, no other brand that offers 21 megapixels, in this same price range.

More megapixels like a higher resolution or brightness. But it also means that the camera will be a higher price. This is one of the highest priced models on the market, but still a worthwhile investment for someone who wants professional quality photographs.

All Canon EOS series cameras are competitive with the Nikon F-series autofocus cameras and other companies such as Olympus, Pentax and Sony. EOS continues to enjoy popularity around the world, regardless of price.

As with Nikon and a few other brands, there is a special electronic engine which gives the lens autofocus function. The Canon models are known as EF autofocus lenses. In Nikon models, the autofocus lenses marked with an F or an AF.

Unlike older autofocus cameras, there are no mechanical parts or levers to break over time. But there are a series of electrical contacts which must continue to function, so the auto focus feature of the Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II at work.

If you have pictures for a while and you've ever caught in a rainstorm, you know what rain can do to cameras. Rain or water will short the electrical contact and destruction of the engine, but this is one of the more rugged models from Canon. It will not withstand the pressure of the scuba-diving, but it should survive for a few minutes in a come down.

Whether you decide to do this or a similarly priced brand to buy, my suggestion is to invest in a waterproof bag or box. Some of those involved in the market you can shoot right through the box, even on a rainy day.

The Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II and other high-end professional models to protect the lens and electronics from damage is one of my main goals. If I happen to be doing something in a very dirty or dangerous environment, I take one of my cheaper cameras for the trip.

Released in 2008, the 5D Mark II replaced the 5D. You might be wondering whether there is any reason to buy the newer model, if you already have the 5D. Well, there are some new features that you might be interested in

The Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II can record 12 minutes video with high resolution of 1920x1080. That's a higher resolution and 7 minutes recording time than you can get from a mid-range Nikon.

At lower resolutions, you can up to 30 minutes recording time. So, if you want to shoot your own movies, this is one of the better cameras to choose.

Other upgrades are live and the ability to preview your movies to watch on your HDTV. Reviews for the Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II have been mostly positive. I should give 5 stars.
