A Silver Version Of The Sony Ericsson W595 Is Now Available

The Sony Ericsson W595 was originally released in September 2008; however it has recently been released in a new colour variant. The new Silver version as an aesthetically pleasing handset appealing to users who want a functional handset as well as a fashion statement.

Measuring 100x47x14mm, the W595 weighs in at 104g so is lightweight and relatively slim line so it is comfortable to hold and use. The 2.2 inch TFT screen is capable of displaying up to 256,000 colours at 240x320 pixels ensuring bright, vibrant on screen images. An accelerometer is built in which senses when the phone has been tilted and automatically rotates the image on screen accordingly so it can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

Users are alerted to incoming calls and messages by vibration and ringing, with the option to download polyphonic ringtones. MP3 and AAC music files can also be assigned as ringtones. A speakerphone is built in allowing hands free communication.

Internal memory is 40 MB as standard, however by using a Memory Stick Micro (M2) up to 8GB can be utilized as storage for media files and other data.


Several connectivity options can be utilized with the W595 Silver. Class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE are included, and connection to 3G networks is via HSDPA at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. Bluetooth version 2.0 is installed as standard enabling direct transfer of files and data between other Bluetooth compatible handsets.

The W595 Silver is equipped with a digital camera boasting 3.15MP which operates at a pixel ratio of 2048x1536 pixels. It incorporates the video calling feature whereby users can film themselves whilst talking with someone who has a compatible handset and their image is displayed on screen. The camera can also shoot video as an alternative to taking still images. This is in QVGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second.

The W595 Silver includes Sony Ericsson's renowned Walkman Player for playing music files. Media files can be easily transferred to and from a computer by using the included USB (v2.0) port. Additional entertainment features include a stereo FM radio with RDS and a range of games with the option to download additional ones if required.


Other extra features include T9 predictive text input which saves time when writing text messages, a useful organiser, and voice memo recorder. The range of available colours for this handset now includes Jungle Grey, Lava Black, Ruby Black, Cosmopolitan White, Active Blue, Peachy Pink and Sandy Gold. Therefore, a colour to suit most users' tastes is sure to be found.
