Monday is always the worst working day of the week. The weekend is over with and now all you have to look forward to is four more long days of work, until you can enjoy next weekend. It really is a vicious cycle. Just getting through your Monday without losing your mind is an accomplishment in itself, so why not celebrate? Monday shouldn't be all bad. Go out on the town or stay in, just make sure it's fun enough to supersede the monotony of your work day. If you're drawing a blank, check out some of my suggestions below. I've listed seven great ways to improve your Monday mood.

1. Check out a happy hour at a local bar. There are sure to be tons of happy hours on Monday night. So go out with a few friends, grab a bar stool and munch and drink the night away. Take it easy though, you do have to get back to your cubicle tomorrow.

2. Catch a good film. Load up on popcorn and get lost in the ridiculous plot line of some hot action movie. It's sure to take your mind off of work for at least a couple of hours.

3. Go to an open mic night in your city. Assuming you live in a large metropolitan area, there are sure to be at least a couple of open mic nights on Mondays. If you've got some talent, shake things up and perform yourself, otherwise just sit back and enjoy some of the local talent (or lack there of).

4. Attend a comedy show. Whether it's amateur night or full of pros, you're sure to get a couple of good laughs in that will make you feel better about even the worst work day.

5. Invite some friends over for Monday night football. Even if you aren't a fan of the game, it'll at least be some background noise and an excuse to load up nachos and hang out with your buds.

6. Go to a concert in your area. It doesn't have to be a big show, in fact a local gig will probably cost less and will much easier to get tickets to last minute. Just go online and do a search for music in your area, you're sure to find something you like.

7. Enroll in a class. It doesn't matter what it's on, it can be anything from salsa to creative writing. Just choose something you're interested in and if you like it, you can keep it as a regular way to lift your spirits on Monday evenings.

Yes nobody likes Mondays, but it's about time you changed your attitude. Don't go home and sulk. Go out and do something that will make Mondays better, perhaps even a day to look forward to. It'll give you the lift you need in order to get through the rest of the week with a smile. The work week will fly by and before you know it, it'll be Friday afternoon once again.
