x factor 2009 boot camp The X-Factor started again for another year with the 1st live auditions in London yesterday attended by all 4 judges.

The auditions were all held at London's XCel Centre - just down the line from Mirror.co.uk's show business Towers.

we are stunned we couldn't hear some of the screeching from up here, really....

The show kicks off at the end of the summer. X Factor bosses have handed 4 hopefuls a second chance at mega stardom after kicking out a successful all-girl band for lying about their age.

they had now made it through to the judges houses stage of the TV talent show.

The devastated girls were told they were being axed after it emerged one had spread falsehoods about her age and was just 15. X Factor rules stipulate competitors must be sixteen or over.

The all-girl band - who we have been asked not to spot - were called to the offices of production company Talkback Thames early on Monday.

An X Factor insider announced [*CO]'The girls were filmed being told they had not made it through after all.

'One of them was just 15 and had lied on her form which was a significant breach of the guidelines.

'Although the entry age was dropped to 14 last year a decision was made this was too junior and was put back up to sixteen.

'We are on the lookout for a correct pop star or band who can handle the pressure.'

The film crew then headed up to Coventry where they broke the excellent news to excited Harmony Hood.

On their website, the band said they had been described by the X Factor team as'raw talent'. They are made up of YaniQue, Charlie, Abbee and Toke'n.

* The new series of X Factor starts on ITV1 at 7pm on saturday.
Simon Cowell gives Cheryl the chance to showcase her debut solo single on the hit ITV talent contest.

But her advisers think she should go for it.

And if she's's put off by fears of facing the wrath ( and sniping ) of the judging panel she will rest easy.

Cheryl's friends say she's excited but frightened about the possibility of singing in front of the team and a live studio audience - even though that's's precisely how she got her place in Girls aloud.

A source tells us [*CO]'It is a no-brainer for Cheryl to launch her solo career on the show.
But this will be a completely different experience for Cheryl - she can't have the others for support.

'She is twitchy because she'll be performing for her peers - and there's always the fear that Simon may say something catty.
Cheryl can do no incorrect in his eyes and he would not want to humiliate her.

'It's a secure environment for her debut and they're going to want her to look outstanding.'

Cheryl herself has expounded [*CO]'I understand how the competitors are feeling - particularly when they are singing in front of us.
