Wow Blacksmithing offers you the ability to create some spectacular gear. If you're going to play a mail or plate wearing class, you can create armor and weapons that are as good as or exceed dungeon drops. (As with all the other classes, the very best gear comes from high-level dungeons and raid instances.)We recommend you take up mining if you're going to be a blacksmith. The two professions choices will lock you out of other professions, but its better to dig out your own gold than to have to rely on others or the Auction House for it. With mining you will supply a great majority of the ore and gems you need with blacksmithing. And extra ore and gems can always be sold in the AH for other professions that use them, such as Engineering and Jewelcrafting.Wow Blacksmithing requires a quite eclectic array of materials. Once your skill is high enough to create high end weapon and armor, you're going to need to collect materials from all of the gathering disciplines (Fishing, Mining, Herbing, and Skinning). As an example, the Shadow War Axe requires alchemy Shadow Oil potion from an alchemist, which in turn requires an Oil Blacktail fish from a fisherman, along with other herbsOnce your Warcraft blacksmithing hits 200 (and you're level 40 or above), you can choose to specialize as an Armor smith or a Weapon smith. Weapon smiths can then specialize into Hammer, Axe, or Sword smiths.Which of these four (Armor, Axe, Sword, or Hammer) specialties is best is a source of on-going debate among blacksmiths.
