People with blackheads should never continue the habit of popping blackheads. Aside from transferring the infection from one pore to the other, it also damages the skin - leaving red spots and blemishes. It's good if these are on the unexposed areas of your body like your back because you can still hide them. However, if these are on your face, it can be a big concern since you'll become more conscious about these blemishes.

One thing you need to know about blackheads is that its root cause is within the skin. This means popping blackheads will never rid you of these mild acne problems - it will just make it worse for you. As you spread the infection all over your face and body through constant squeezing, popping and rubbing, you'll end up with so many blackheads to worry about.

Other people facing this problem will just ignore it and hope that it will eventually disappear. Fact is, as long as the root of the problem is there, your blackheads will stay and may start to spread once bacteria infects it.

Since blackheads are a result of an over active sebaceous gland which leads to the clogging of the skin pores, to eradicate your blackhead problem, you need to focus on unclogging your pores, on controlling the activity of these glands and to fight the bacteria causing the infection. This is the only method to truly get rid of blackheads.

Even natural acne treatment procedures don't include "popping blackheads" as one of the best options in getting rid of blackheads. Dermatologists and skin experts suggest that you wash your face two to three times a day using an un-perfumed and gentle cleanser. Stay clear of soaps that have harsh ingredients and chemicals because they can damage your skin more.

Try not to touch your face and avoid itching and rubbing your skin with your hands. Our hands have lots of bacteria, which can trigger acne flare-ups. As much as possible avoid hand to face contact to pass up transfer of bacteria that can result to infections.

Stop pricking, squeezing and popping blackheads and acne. This will make the infection deeper. It can result to a severe scarring of the skin.

Use OTC topical ointments, lotions, solutions and gels with Benzoyl Peroxide for mild to moderate acne cases only. This solution is good in killing acne and in reducing oil production. As for salicylic acid, sulfur and resorcinol, it can breakdown whiteheads and blackheads. Moreover, salicylic acid can reduce and cut the shedding of cells as well as the lining the oil glands' follicles.

Topical antibiotic lotions and solutions also work well in treating blackheads. Tea tree oil can also be used as a natural antibacterial and antibiotic agent. It has a "drying effect" on the skin. It can help keep acne bacteria at bay while decreasing facial oils.

For those who already made a habit of popping blackheads and are now worried about the red spots and blemishes on your face, sulfur can heal existing these blemishes. It works by unblocking the pores.
